So I rode Riley"a scooter after swapping out the piston and cylinder again. The clutch grabs hard when starting off. Really have to feather it starting off from a stop. What's causing that and how big of a deal is it to fix?

when was the last time the gear box oil was changed or checked?
If you need the clutch holder let me know, you can use a do flywheel holder as well but not the best
Pull the carb, carb box, block intake so nothing falls down it, remove rear shock bolt, Jack up frame to get better access to clutch, replace clutch. Don't drop lock nut into the engine or the woodruff key, at that point you'll be splitting the cases so don't f it up.
Clutch stuff can be done with Engine in the bike. I had thought of clutch plates, that is the usual cause, but that problem comes on gently , generally get warning.
It means you need new clutch plates. If you have an on/off clutch that is hard to feather, plates are worn.
It should have nothing to do with changing out a cylinder, except you have to break in the new parts.
